The struggle for a separate Telangana state in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday suffered another setback with ministers from Telangana region attending the cabinet meet at the state secretariat. It was the first meeting of the state cabinet in four months to be held at the state secretariat and marked a major turnaround by the Telagnana ministers. As many as 11 of the 15 ministers from Telangana region had tendered their resignations from the state assembly in July.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the massive scam of alleged illegal iron ore mining by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy's company in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, has questioned Andhra Pradesh Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy in connection with the case. The minister was questioned about her role in the decision to grant a lease to Reddy's Obulapuram Mining Company for mining in Anantapur district when she was the minister for mines.

Thirty two members of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly of the Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday submitted their resignations to the deputy speaker, protesting the delay in the formation of Telangana state. The MLAs, led by Telangana TDP forum convenor E Dayakar Rao, reached the deputy speaker's office at around 5.30 pm and submitted their resignations. Earlier, they had discussed their strategy and plan of action at the party office in the assembly premises.

In a major blow to YSR Congress president and member of Lok Sabha YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh high court on Wednesday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a thorough probe into his assets and the flow of investments to his companies. A division bench of the high court comprising Chief Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru and Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar issued the orders on public interest litigations alleging illegal amassing of wealth by Jaganmohan Reddy.
